Brother, Sis-in-law, Me, Nathan.
We then proceeded to walk all over the city as the pictures below indicate.
While we were walking through Back Bay, we passed the offices of the American Meteorological Society. So here you are, weather geeks.
We ambled over to Government Center for some swag (stuff we all get--loved by Sis-in-law and Nathan--apparently not something Brother and I picked up genetically) and Sis-in-law and I had our pictures taken with the guy dressed up as a BlackBerry and we thought fondly of that time in The Office Michael invites the BlackBerry to his party.
Here's Nathan and I getting ready to start our day at the T-stop. It was drizzly and cold, but cleared up nicely.
So before I go on with un-Fourth of July pictures, I'll tell you the rest of our adventure. We ate a delicious dinner at The Upper Crust (and discussed the lack of excellent pizza in Boston--seriously, pizza is a big deal for Brother and I and we both left great places in NC) and then went to join 900,000 fellow revelers to hear the Pops. We found a spot by a speaker and proceeded to get really, really cold, so Sis-in-law and I pulled a Boston and went and bought Dunkin Donuts coffee. Mmmm...Boston. While we were gone, Brother and Nathan got to see a drunk guy try to fight 6 National Guardsmen at once. Hate that I missed that.
The Pops was great, Rascal Flatts was disappointing (the sound was bad for them) and the fireworks were unbelievable. At the end we all felt sick from their organ-rattling proximity and the smoke that was so voluminous is even covered the top of the John Hancock building!
The T ride home was a zillion times better than I thought it would be (we sat down) and we were home right at midnight.
So the rest of these pictures are from are fun weekend in NC when the Princess and EnviroCop got hitched.
And these crazy kids might come see us soon. Their expressions pretty much sum up the rest of the weekend:
So that was our Fourth. How was yours?
We had a happy, fun time too. So glad Aunt Hilda called when you all were together...great timing! Can't wait until we can take her with us to visit you all. She's so much fun. Love you!
ReplyDeleteDad said, "Not surprised about the pizza problem since when you all were growing up we ate at Pizza Inn about three nights a week!" And, we watched your fireworks on TV last night. But we didn't watch the concert because "The Music Man" was on another channel.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you and Nathan had a nice 4th of July! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI think the proper term in Weather weenies!! But we will forgive you this time!!! When would be a good time to come and visit? You have to let me know!! I don't if i can stand being so close and not making it there yet?!!! Also, you should come visit Maine if you can like rent a car or something to get there. The train doesnt come that way!! It would be fun for a day trip!!!
ReplyDeletelove meg
I cannot wait to tell my mother that the lakehouse made your top 10!
ReplyDeleteWe got to take a super-brief trip there last weekend, on our two weekaversary! My ludicrous work schedule kept us from leaving on Thursday night, as we'd originally hoped to do, and had us leaving on Saturday morning instead, soo... not even there for 24 hours, but! We had a lovely time nonetheless. My whole family was there, and as you know, we're a happy bunch, especially all together. We told them about the ducks. We are pretty much hopelessly devoted to those ducks now, just so you know.
ANYWAY. We should talk again soon, about jobs and life and how the former interferes with the latter, and how I pretty much covet your maybe-not-as-creative, but gloriously-9-to-5 job even though I love my little children and the paper plate goldfish that they make for me to hang on my fridge. This conversation can also be known as "My Rotten Work Schedule" or "I should probably be a teacher after all." Stay tuned for the gripping details.
love, the Princess, who loves you and Nathan and your blog enough that reading it is one of the few activities that she doesn't consider a waste of precious, sparse time at home with husband.
